No, I'm not depressed.
No, I'm not abandoning Inklings and all of the hard work I've done in the last 4 years.
No, I'm not necessarily taking a break.
I'm just... being me.
I started out 2014 sick as a dog, projectile vomiting and stuck in the bathroom for almost a week straight thanks to some kind of satanistic virus I contracted.

But when you make these goals, and decide that you are going to implement them on January 1st, and have no energy to eat or even get out of bed until January 5th, a huge wrench gets thrown into your beginning of the year mojo.
So, I put the brakes on all of these move-straight-forward plans and... well...
here it is March and the brakes are still on.
I get up each morning and do yoga or pilates. Then I meditate, clean, spend time with Hubby and work on store stuff, creating whatever my heart can come up with and filling orders. By that time my kids are home
from school, so I'm in homework mode, dinner mode and then cuddle time with my kids, sometimes after a walk outside (it's 80 degrees in Arizona, for crying out loud). Then I'm in bed by 9 to read or unwind with my favorite show.
Then I get up the next day and do it all over again.
Simple. Clean. Effective. Calming.
Me.
One of my goals for this year was to get back to Me; the Me I was many years ago when I owned a new age store and drank herbal tea. When I wore hippy skirts and meditated. When I read tarot cards and hugged trees. When I did yoga and my family was my world.
The more I get back to me, the less I find the need to get on social media sites.
The more I get back to me, the less I need in life to make me happy.
The more I get back to me, the less stressed I am, even when my kids are bickering and ready to tear each other apart.
The more I get back to me, the more time I want to spend with my family.
The more I get back to me, the more blessings I have to count each night before bed.
The more I get back to me, the more positive I've become, and the more I see the negative in the world, making me want to stay in my cozy, comfy, positive home.
The more I get back to me, the more people find my store, keeping me busy making custom necklaces and amulets full of my good energy to share with the world.
The more I get back to me, the happier I've become.
So, I'm sorry I only post once or twice a week. It's not because I'm letting go of Inklings.

So, I'm getting back to me, then I'll be getting back to writing full time again.
If you've been with me for the last 4 years, you know I'm not going anywhere. If you just found me, don't be intimidated by the fact that I used to have 25 posts a month and now I have 10. Email subscribe so when I do write, it'll automatically pop into your inbox and surprise you. I will promise to y'all that I will write at least once a week while I'm on my journey.
And maybe, just maybe, if you're feeling like something is missing, then do what I did and try to get back to you. Take time for yourself. Let go of your phone, computer, electronics and social media sites for just a little while and connect with yourself and your family. Count your blessings. Do what makes you happy.
I promise that you'll thank me.

Great post!! I can't say enough what practicing Yoga & Meditation has added to my life. You made a great point about getting away from the gadgets. It is so freeing. Again nice share :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yoga and meditation has been a life saver for me! Glad to hear it's been great for you, too! ;)
DeleteThus post is just what I needed! I woke up this morning completely drained and then got ticked off by a comment someone posted. This person does not matter in any part of my life but they got my blood boiling. Why? Because social media has taken over my life. I need to unplug and get back to the things that matter.
ReplyDeleteIt took over mine, too. That's why I don't post as much. It saddens me from the standpoint of Inklings' page and now Inked Goddess' page, but freeing from the standpoint of my own personal facebook, lol.
DeleteMore mommas need to take the time to think about their own "Me Time." Great post!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree- take time for yourselves so you are better prepared to take care of everyone else! ;)
DeleteI totally get it. I'm in the same zone. It's what I tell everyone. I'm just getting back to me, and weird, we could totally be twins with the hippy skirts, meditating, tea drinking and tarot cards. :) Love you even more now! Yay for "getting back to me." It's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI have found in the last few years that the people who "get" me are the ones who somehow stumble across my blog. Hippy skirts, meditating, tarot cards, tree hugging. Those people find me. And I love it. Too bad we don't live closer, Ms.MiMi. ;)
DeleteGood for you, it's amazing how taking a step back allows us to charge forward faster and better in the end!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It definitely seems to work that way! ;)
